Job Overview

WAFF-TV/Huntsville, AL is searching for a Anchor/Reporter to join the #1 Local Media Station in North Alabama. This is a part-time position. 2-3 years’ prior television reporting or anchoring experience preferred; college journalism degree preferred.

 

Candidate must bring professionalism, personality, energy, confidence, and team spirit to our newscasts and our newsroom.  Successful candidate must have the desire and ability to smoothly communicate stories, skill at researching ideas for stories, and the ability to accurately and quickly verify facts needed for stories.  Must have the excellent written skills, demonstrated by presenting prior news stories on a video link that were written in the active voice, present and future tense, and with detailed audio/video connection.  

 

Ideal candidate will be familiar with best practices for web and social media posting of news events.  This is an active severe weather market, so experience in covering severe weather situations is critical. Candidate must be able to communicate in a calm and reassuring manner during very stressful situations.  

 

We seek someone with extensive “Live” experience. When doing Live storytelling, we seek a candidate with excellent on camera presence, both in command of content and physical performance, as well as a being concise communicator who can tell a compelling story in an easy to understand manner.
