    WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee seeks an experienced Digital Content Manager to join our award-winning news team.


    Job Duties

    • Work with digital team to ensure proper coverage of events throughout the Mid-South.
    • Responsible for setup and maintenance of mobile apps, social media, website, OTT.
    • Responsible for managing WMC’s presence across all social platforms
    • Responsible for collecting and disseminating daily/weekly analytics for all platforms.
    • Ensure all digital team members are trained on all digital platforms; maintain continuing training sessions for all digital producers.
    • Know and use all available tools to create content for all platforms.
    • Works with editorial team to ensure daily journalistic standards are being executed on all digital platforms.
    • Work with reporters and other content creators to make sure they understand various WMC5 platforms and their responsibility for contributing to those platforms.
    • Manage digital team schedule/vacation requests.
    • Create/maintain best practices for selecting and creating content on all WMC5 digital platforms.
    • Work directly with News Director and Managing Editor to ensure superior breaking news coverage across all platforms.
    • Plan and lead digital coverage for major stories and special events (e.g. elections, Olympics, severe weather, etc.)
    • Identify products/practices that can improve our digital products or simplify current execution practices.
    • Participate in daily planning meeting
    • Participate in daily editorial meetings
    • Meet weekly with Managing Editor to address coverage deficiencies and identify digital opportunities for investigative content.
    • Motivate and coach digital producers.


    Basic Qualifications

    • 2 years of experience as a digital content producer in a top 100 market; previous Digital Content Manager experience preferred.
    • BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
    • Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts
    • Must be willing to work in Memphis, TN

    • Lead and inspire news content gathers to work together for a great digital product.
    • Knowledge of Frankly CMS, Urban Airship, Google Analytics
    • Demonstrated ability of good news judgment and journalistic integrity
    • Ability to handle legal concerns pertaining to digital content.
    • Teach staff to develop content through social media and independent sources.
    • Ability to interpret information to establish facts and determine truth.
    • Basic understanding of Windows-based electronics and the ability to learn ENPS as well as new systems as they are implemented.
    • Act as a team player while displaying an ability to handle a variety of tasks, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, deadline driven, stressful environment.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of station and corporate management.
