    Meteorologist/ Reporter

     

    Hawaii News Now (CBS/NBC duopoly) the dominant multi-media news organization in Honolulu, Hawaii has an immediate opening for a high energy, highly skilled morning meteorologist for our top-rated, award-winning morning ‘SUNRISE’ program. We are looking for someone who knows the science, but can also tell an engaging weather story irrespective of the conditions. This is an integral role in our ensemble cast of 7 morning on-air people requiring a quick wit, sense of humor and versatility! Our next meteorologist will be an accurate forecaster, keep our viewers safe, convey appropriate tone, summarize complicated information, and stay cool under pressure while occasionally having a little fun with their on-air teammates and the viewers at home.

     

    You should be very familiar with the major social media platforms and will interact daily with our viewers via social media, and especially during severe and other major weather events. You will also contribute video content for the station's weather app and our web site.

     

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Get our viewers ready with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts.
    • Will provide urgent, immediate weather information before and during severe weather events
    • Will be able to simultaneously provide content on TV and on our digital platforms.
    • Will utilize all the technology and tools available to us, to tell an intriguing weather story
    • Will be deployed in the field during live events

     

    Experience Requirements:

    • Previous on-air experience required.

     

    Qualifications Requirements:

     

    • Dynamic on-air presence with a conversational weather presentation
    • In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting.
    • Proven on-air experience in handling breaking news and severe weather coverage 
    • Proficient in using WSI graphics and technology
    • Knowledge of Hawaii and our weather patterns is preferred
    • Successful candidate must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and MVR check

     

    Education:

     

    • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology or related field
    • CBM and/or AMS seal preferred
