WAFF is looking for a creative storyteller to help expand its rapidly-growing broadcast and digital media presence. The ideal candidate will be quick-thinking, creative and multi-talented with the ability to produce multiple pieces weekly and will split their time between writing, producing, shooting and editing content that engage and produce results.
The City Weekend producer demands direct knowledge of all aspects of video production to independently create top-quality multiplatform content. Energetic, a strategic thinker and high motivated self-starter that will work with a team of producers or independently to produce a variety of creative assets for our broadcast and digital assets.
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Film/Video or other related field.
Must provide creative reel demonstrating advanced knowledge of video production, especially Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and DSLR cinematography. WordPress, Brightcove and Frankly Content management experience required. On-camera experience preferred. Evenings and some weekends may be required. WAFF - Anchor/Reporter
Candidate must be a team player with a great attitude, possess a strong sense of ethics and integrity, and bring professionalism, personality, energy, confidence, and team spirit to our newscasts and our multi-platform newsroom. Must be a strong writer, deeply knowledgeable about all current events, and have quick and thoughtful news judgment. Must be capable of creating content from sources beyond wires and feed (ex. Social Media, Court Records, reliable online publications) and be eager to present the day’s news in an urgent and impactful manner.
The position requires an energetic personality who can connect with a large and engaged TV and online audience, and be able to recruit viewers and users to an already-strong news operation. In the newsroom, the position requires a dedicated journalist who loves to pitch and do great stories, as well as someone highly skilled at handling non-scripted reports on set and detailed information when reporting live on location news events. In the studio, candidate must be able to organize and deliver breaking news information for easiest consumption by the audience, bringing order to the chaos of breaking news reporting, producing the market’s best overall coverage on a consistent basis.
Must consistently generate and execute important and engaging story content in a contemporary and aggressive manner. Must have the excellent writing skills and be someone who knows the value of the present and future tenses in writing news stories, as well as the active voice, visual language, and audio/video connection.
All Anchor/Reporters must have strong grasp of producing and reporting in order to provide constructive feedback and coaching before, during, and after show. Looking for someone with "Scanner Ear", someone comfortable with consistently working from 3:00am to 11:30am, occasionally filling in on noon show, someone eager to engage with EP on the next morning’s news planning, including making calls and setting up interviews, and someone eager to go and cover news in the field after the morning newscasts conclude (one anchor does cut-ins and the other goes out, swapping duties either day by day or week by week.
Candidate must be or become proficient in ENPS, LUCI, Edius, Oasis/Bitcentral, VOD, Livelink, LiveU, Crowdtangle, Outlook, Police Scanners, Tagboard, Teleprompter operation, and Facebook Insights.
General Notes: 1. Candidate must be able to work long hours covering breaking news on the air, online, and on our 48 News & Weather Apps, including holidays and weekends. 2. Candidate must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. 3. Successful candidate must skillfully dig for stories, successfully research ideas for stories, and accurately and quickly verify facts needed for stories. Reporters will develop and maintain contacts and sources. Must have the excellent writing skills, demonstrated by presenting prior news stories on a video link that were written in active voice, present and future tense, and with detailed audio/video connection. Reporters must break stories and desire to lead every newscast. Come to work ready with LOCAL, leadable hard news stories.
Candidate will be or quickly become proficient in ENPS, LUCI, Edius, Oasis/VOD, LiveU, Crowdtangle, Outlook, Police Scanners, Tagboard, Facebook Insights, Field Gear for Electronic News Gathering (cameras, audio, lighting, etc), StormChaser, ENG Truck Workflow and Safety Protocol, & Videolicious.
Must have excellent video news gathering and editing skills, demonstrated by presenting prior stories shot under deadline pressure which show proper sequencing, framing in thirds, and consistent audio/video connection. Ideal candidate is savvy in social media and proficient in a multi-platform workflow (i.e. website, news app, broadcast).

WAFF-TV has an immediate opening for a weekday/weekend prime time newscast Producer. We are looking for a creative and talented news producer who can be a leader for our newscasts.
The successful candidate must be a strong writer, with an attention to detail. You must be able to work well under deadlines, and excel on breaking news coverage. You must be able to showcase; no show stacking. The ability to present the news in an interesting manner, which lives our "First Alert" brand is a must. You must be skilled in the use of social media and how its use drives users to television. Must have prior experience producing daily newscasts.
